More than anything." Tormented by guilt Cloud genuinely despises himself for his past sins, riddled with self loathing because of his shortcomings. Even if he did become the hero who saved the planet, the Mako infused ex-SOLDIER is filled with regret and blaming only himself for the loss of his two friends; Zack Fair and Aerith Gainsborough. Even though Aerith returned to the Lifestream and Zack lives on through his memories he is constantly reminded of his failure to protect those closest to him, carrying this heavy burden forever in his heart as a constant reminder. This manifests into a further depressive state once he contracts the Geostigma devouring the Planet, isolating himself from those close to him in fear that he wasn't good enough to save not only himself but Denzel from their impending demise. Cloud continues to distance himself from those close to him even though constantly being reminded of what he's done for them, here for him when necessary.

"Stop running! I know... Even if you find the kids, you might not be able to help them. Maybe something could happen that can never unhappen. That scares you, doesn't it? But you need to think about now. Really take it in! Look at you: you think you've got it so damn hard. Well, you hate being alone, so let people in! Sure, you may not answer the phone, but I don't see you throwing it away, either!" Tifa's message to Cloud when confronted about the children is the perfect representation of his self hatred, always running from his problems instead of facing them head on, afraid of what the outcome might be if he fails again. Deep down Cloud knew he shouldn't be so hard on himself but it was hard to see light in the darkness when time and time again his failings plagued his mind and clouded his better judgement.

>> DOUBTFULNESS
"I'm not fit to help anyone. Not my family. Not my friends. Nobody." Doubt surrounds our hero with every step he makes, uncertainty practically ruling his mind. Without the guidance of his friends and family Cloud is often riddled with skepticism at his own abilities to protect those he loves because of his past failings. Grief inhibits him from seeing the truth both Tifa and Marlene so desperately try to make him realize, that he was good enough for them and should not question himself over the events long since passed many years ago now. Post dramatic stress is clearly a genuine factor, the mentally ill hero turned delivery boy constantly reacquainted with ghosts gone but never truly forgotten, triggering his doubtfulness, sorrow demoralizing his spirits.

>> STUBBORN
"Not interested." Cloud is known for his headstrong and stubborn demeanor throughout the series, refusing to listen and accepting aid from his allies given freely. Tending to keep his emotions in check and buried deep inside is hard pressed to open himself up to others, seeming almost unapproachable to strangers because of his quiet demeanor and almost standoffish attitude. On top of that Cloud often lets his mouth get the best of him, boldly speaking despite the repercussions it may incur. "Rufus Shinra? Do I feel sorry for you." Addressing Rude bluntly when approached by the chairman of the ShinRa Company.

>> AUTOPHOBIA (Fear of Isolation)
Although Cloud often distances himself from his friends and family he's shown time and time again without the power of his allies willpower and strength he is left isolated, alone. His fear of isolation stems from early childhood, an outcast in his youth who wanted nothing more to fit in amongst the other children in Nibelhiem. He'd always been strange, distance, afraid to reach out to those for help and continued to manifest within the catacombs of his mind as he grew into the man he was today. Even though he is constantly reminded by his companions he is never truly alone, his traumatic past causes him to close himself off from others, feeling as though he was undeserving of their love and affection. He often imagines the worst possible scenario, nightmares plaguing him on occasion as they turn his thoughts to dark places causing him to distance himself from those he holds dear in his heart. "Stay where you belong, in my memories." Cloud's final words after defeating Sephiroth during the last battle of the film, a reminder the Mako infused ex-SOLDIER is constantly tormented by inner demons, Sephiroth being just one of many.

The wolf is a key figure which symbolizes his isolation and loneliness, every time Cloud sinks into a depressed state of mind the animal seemingly appears. May it be taking on Zack's persona when visiting the Buster Sword's final resting place at the beginning of the film or the Forgotten Capitol it is clear the wolf is a representation of his guilt and loneliness after the death of Zack Fair and Aerith Gainsborough both.

>> CHEROPHOBIA (Fear of Happiness)
Happiness often alluded the ex-SOLDIER in fear something tragic will happen in it's wake. This can often be shown through Advent Children as the closer he gets to Tifa and the kids the further he pushes them away in fear of losing them completely. Even though he obtained a 'normal' life after the events of Sephiroth's destruction and Meteorfall, the spiky haired blonde continues to run from his companions, going so far as to isolate himself completely as he sought out a cure alone for the Geostigma plaguing the planet. Scared the peace he's found would be ruined, Cloud runs away from his problems when he should confront them openly with the aid of his allies. Afraid to fail once more like with Zack and Aerith, the blonde distances himself from Tifa and the others to try and mask his internal struggles. Frightening thoughts and nightmares remind Cloud frequently of his troubled past and does not want history to repeat itself, thus creating a guarded shell around his person leaving him unhappy, ridden with guilt.

>> LOYALTY
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all. There's not a thing I don't cherish!" Cloud is fiercely loyal to his friends and allies even going so far as to hide his affliction of the Geostigma in hopes of protecting them from his sickness in the beginning. It wasn't until Tifa confronted him about his guilt and told Cloud to stop running that he finally realized he wasn't alone, his friends and family there for support no matter what. With renewed vigor the Chocobo head overcomes his burden of guilt with his comrades at his side, fighting together as one to defeat their common enemy in both Bahamut and Sephiroth. Cloud would do anything and everything to protect his friends and family even going as far to sacrifice himself to keep them safe time and time again.

>> COURAGE
"Anyone may claim that he will act in the direst times, yet only a brave man acts in times great and small." On a multitude of occasions Cloud proves he will do whatever it takes to defeat Sephiroth and his remnants. Facing off against Kadaj and his gang in the Forgotten City, Cloud fights the assailants in hopes of retrieving Marlene and Denzel coming up short as Vincent Valentine comes to his rescue when he was seemingly overwhelmed as the children drank from the Mako-Infused lake to turn against him. In the final battle against Sephiroth he draws forth the strength and determination rallied by his companions, finally forgiving himself for the deaths of Zack and Aerith, laying to rest the pain and suffering encompassed by his former guilt to overcome his ultimate opponent for the final time.

Powers and Abilities:

MAKO INFUSION - Unlike most SOLDIER's who are infused with Mako as they rise through the ranks, Cloud was injected with the serum through years of torture in Hojo's laboratory, immediately graced with superhuman strength and honed reflexes unlike any normal human being. Faster, stronger and more agile, Cloud uses this cursed gift to his advantage despite the horrible torment endured.

MATERIA - Frozen Mako infused with unnatural abilities both with elemental and summoning powers, Cloud has mastered the use of Fire, Ice , Bolt and different summons.

LIMIT BREAKS - Limits are special abilities geared to each member of Cloud's party including himself; Mastering the elements of Meteor (Meteorain) , Whirlwinds (Finishing Touch) and swordplay his limit breaks acquired but not limited to include Braver, Cross-Slash and Ominslash.

Inventory:

FIRST TSURUGI - Six swords in all, when assembled together resembles that of the Buster sword formerly owned by Zack Fair, laid to rest by Cloud in memoriam of his old friend after the events of Final Fantasy VII. Each blade has its own uses, dual short swords for agility, Hollow blade as an offset weapon in his other hand and mirrored back blades with saw-tooth edgings.

MATERIA - As mentioned before frozen Mako infused with various abilities varying from combat, summoning and restorative capabilities. (Probably wouldn't have any summons to tone back powers other than Choco/Mog if possible so that he could ride on/summon a Chocobo/Moogle to show people. One bracer is covered by his arm guard whilst the other is attached at his wrist. I headcanon each can hold three or four. I would go with the basic elements like Fire, Ice, Bolt, Earth then Choco/Mog and two restorative Materia being Cure and Revive but if Revive would be too overpowered then Shield.)

BRACERS - Used to store his Materia on his person whilst traveling. Included if the list provided above in the Materia section is granted would be as follows: Fire, Ice, Bolt, Earth, Choco/Mog, Cure, Revive or Shield depending.

Samples: DUPLICITY TDM TL, LINK 2

comments
